Report on ‘Saints Row: The Third’ for Gearbox Studios by Jamie Howard



Some of the new features of the game are as follows:

• More controls in character creation.

Make brand new unique characters with more options to change your character with items such as:
Face bandanas,
New hairstyles,
And a new Add-on pack called “Professor Genki” which includes a new helmet, gloves and a suit.

• New weapons.

THQ also brought new weapons to the game, here are a few of the new weapons:
The Gravedigger an sawed-off shotgun.
Predator Drones, a laptop controlling a missile.
And two new downloadable packs which include two new weapons to the game,
The “Genki Blaster” available in the Professor Genki pack
And The  “Shark-O-Matic” available in the Shark Attack Pack.

• New Vehicles.

Saints row has added a whole new selection of cars to the game,
Also a new car is available in the “Professor Genki” Pack, the “Man-A-Pult”.

• Whole new storyline including new characters and missions.

New Gangs such as:

• A brand new city “Steelport”.

Saints row: The Third is a new game on the market by THQ, it is the third game in the series and probably the best.
Plot
The game is basically about a street gang called “the saints” who have became incredibly rich since the end of the second game, “saints Row 2”, and have taken over the city the gang was born in, Stillwater. In the second and first game, the gang was nothing but just a street gang who robbed stores and had gunfights with the other gangs in the city, “The West Side Rollerz, Vice Kings and The Los Carnales” in the first game and “The Sons Of Samedi, “The Ronin” and “The Brotherhood” in the second game. The saints battled these gangs to get noticed and eventually take over Stillwater. At the end of the first game you are trapped on a exploding boat planned by your gang leader, in the second game it is linked to the first game by your character survived the explosion and fell into a coma, at the end of the second game, you basically own Stillwater. In the begging of the third game, you are robbing a bank and then get caught by the police, then on a plane out of Stillwater. You are greeted by a rival gang leader, “Philippe Loren” and asks for 60% of your fortune, you decline and escape, when you get back to land you go to get some money from your account and find out that your bankrupt. The game carries on with the objective of taking over the new environment in which the game is set, “Steelport”. This includes defeating the all new gangs, “Morning Star”, “The Luchadores” and “The Deckers”. The other ways of taking over Steelport include, Activities and collectibles, in which both help boost your level up with XP, Earn money to spend on Character customization, Vehicles and new “Cribs for your gang,  and help earn Achievements and Trophies.
Presentation
As Saints Row - The Third is the new game in the series, there has to be an uplift in the graphics, and there is a massive difference of the games overall look compared to the previous games. These changes include:
-The new cartoon type look to the game, what i mean by this is the colour scheme is alot brighter, including the appearance of the clothes, cities, and vehicles.
-The new look to the player and characters, the changes from Saints Row 2 characters are significant. Meaning now there is a sort of outline around everything/ everyone, hence the cartoon look and feel to the game.
-The overall graphics to the new edition the series are amazing. Considering that the game’s world is massive, and that the game is actually a open world genre, the loading times are acceptable for the complex graphics.
-Voice acting in Saints Row - The Third is brilliant. The characters voices sync in time with the voice acting, which again is great as it is a really large game.
Sound
The sound in Saints Row - The Third is another great thing about the title. With the all new weapons and vehicles, there is also a unique sound to all of them, the guns sounds are realistic, the sound of the vehicles engines/breaks ect.. are great, the new radio stations make the game feel even more futuristic and lastly the voice acting in the game is outstanding, you can tell your characters feelings by the tone in your voice, which i find brilliant.
Gameplay
Again, with Saints Row - The Third as a new game to the series, there are some changes with the combat and driving. Starting with the combat, there is a new system which involve “Hitmarkers” which indicate that your bullets/weapons actually hit the enemy, these help alot as the game is in third person, the shooting is normally harder to be accurate. Another change to the combat is the ability to perform “Finisher Moves”, which is basically throwing your opponent to the ground in style. The driving physics in Saints Row - The Third have also changed quite a bit. with the inclusion of all new vehicles, jets and helicopters, give a variety of new options to play the game and have fun.
-My Opinion-
My overall opinion of Saints Row - The Third, is superior i think it brings a new, fresh take to the Saints Row series, it brings a fun, rewarding and deep experience to a video game. The music is great, the weapons are powerful, the vehicles are entertaining and the story is brilliant. Overall Saints Row - The Third is a excellent game with lots of possibilities and alot to get through, i would defiantly recommend picking up this game.
